I've always been fascinated by the history of Troy and Marion Zimmer Bradley's retelling is absolutely brilliant. You see the world out of the eyes of Cassandra, princess of Troy, the ill-fated seeress who's been cursed to see but never to be believed. While human failings such as greed and jealousy contribute to Troy's fall, it comes about mostly by the gods warring among themselves.
