A necessary book Mar 13, 2008

This is not a new book, with "revelations" about the M.E. situation, Its rather a very scholarly review of the last more or less millenial events in the territory known variously as "Palestine". "Holy Land" and more recently "Israel." I have encountered this book shortly after its apearance. Since then I have used it as a gift to my friends and acquaintances interested in ancient and not so ancient history of the disputed land. Over the time,I must have given away in this way.at least 20 copies. The Arab - Jewish conflict, with its manifold aspoects and developments, is still going on, and although there are many logical reasons for it to cease, it does not seem to go toward ending soon. This book is invaluable to every student of M. E. history, and an useful resource for everybody else. Highly recommended both for contents and for readibility.
