This book is excellent for understanding how to design a research project. The first chapter is a little hard to get through but the rest of the book is easy to read and understand.

John Creswell is an excellent author for the area of research design, as he knows the area well, he is capable of clear writing, which when combined with examples makes a sometimes difficult area,comprehensible. No doubt he will assist me in getting through the dissertation process.

This book is the bible of how to design your research, but it is definitely [in my opinion] not the book for a total beginner. As a second or third book about research design it is a must, but it is a little too compplex for someone with no knowledge or research.
