We don't have a toll-free number and don't accept telephone orders. However, you may call us in the United States on 00-1-510-594-4586 for automated information about placing an order or about an existing order. And please don't hesitate to contact Customer Service . We're happy to answer any questions you may have via e-mail.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We gladly accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card, and JCB Card for all orders transacted in U.S. dollars. For orders transacted in a different currency, the currency you choose may limit the types of credit cards you can use during checkout, as per the following policies:
- MasterCard and Visa process all available currencies.
- JCB Card processes U.S. dollars and Japanese yen.
- Discover Card and American Express only process U.S. dollars.
You can use an ATM or other debit card bearing the Visa or MasterCard logo on our Web site just like a credit card. Unfortunately, we're not able to accept Maestro, Solo, Switch, Electron, or Delta credit or debit cards. We also can't accept cash, cheques, or money orders. You can open a new account on the Create an Account page, or you will be prompted to open an account by placing your first order with us. During the ordering process, you will create your own Alibris password. Below are step-by-step ordering instructions.
How to order
1. To find the items you want, use the Search box in the upper-left of every page on our Web site. For a more detailed search, click the
Advanced Search link from the Search box. Each time you find an item you want to purchase, click the Add to Basket button just above the price at the right.
2. When you have finished adding your selections to your Shopping Basket, review the contents of your basket; these are the items that will be ordered when you check out.
One or more items added to your basket during a previous visit to our site may still appear in your basket. Any item added to your basket is reserved for you for 12 hours but may be sold to others after that time. If you have to leave your Shopping Basket, it is best to return and complete your purchase within 12 hours.
3. When you're ready, click the Checkout button at the bottom of the Shopping Basket page.
4a. If this is your first order with us, scroll down to the First-time Customers section and enter your e-mail address and a five- to fifteen-character password of your choice into the appropriate fields. Click the Continue button to submit your password and go to the next page.
4b. If you're a returning customer, enter your e-mail address and password in the Returning Customer section. If you've forgotten your password, click on the I Forgot My Password link. You will be asked for the e-mail address on your account so that we may send you your password.
5. Fill in your billing address in the fields provided. This is the name and address attached to the credit card you plan to use for ordering. This information should match the information on your credit card billing statement.
6. Then fill in your shipping address. This is the address where you want us to send your order; it does not have to be the same as your billing address. Click the Continue button to go to the next page.
7. Fill in your credit card information in the fields provided, making sure to enter your card number as one complete string, with no spaces or punctuation. Click the Continue button to go to the next page.
8. On the Review & Place Order page, you can choose your preferred method of shipment as well as review all the details of your order. Visit our Shipping Information page for more details.
9. If you've received a coupon from us, enter it in the field provided in the Payment Options box. Make sure to enter it as one complete string, with no spaces before or after the code, and then click the Apply button. You can confirm the application of the coupon in your Order Summary in the right column at the top of the page. Check the boxes to indicate whether you would like to receive coupons, news, and special offers from Alibris and/or selected third parties that may be of interest to you.
10. Verify all of your information. If you need to make changes, click on the appropriate "change" button to update billing, shipping, or payment information. If you've changed your mind about a purchase, click the title of the item you wish to remove. You will then be presented with the option to click the Remove From Basket button, and then with the opportunity to review your remaining purchase, before continuing to checkout. Please note that we cannot cancel an order once you click the Place Order button.
11. Once all of the details of your order are correct and you are ready to place your order, click the Place Order button at the top or at the bottom of the page.
Please do not close or refresh your browser until your order number appears on the screen. You're done! You'll receive e-mail confirmation that your order was placed within about an hour.
Should I use my postal address for my
order?
Yes, please ensure that the address you select for delivery of your order is one you use for parcels sent by post.
Can I have my order shipped to an address different from my own?
We can ship your order to just about any address you give us. When you place your order, you'll be asked to enter both a shipping and billing address--they don't need to be the same. See our Shipping Information page for more details.
