Wilson Rawls grew up on a small farm in the Ozark Mountains of Oklahoma. There were no schools where he lived so his mother taught Rawls and his sisters how to read and write. The most resounding image from this novel was the one that included spilled dog intestines. It was not pretty. Though it is written fairly well, the story is, as a whole, disappointing. read more
