"I am so glad this was written! It follows nicely after Cyteen, greatly broadening and deepening the original story and themes. A stronger novel, in my opinion, mainly because C J Cherryh's only gotten better in the 20 intervening years.
This is a book that pulls you in, very character-driven, but also quite idea-driven. It will make you think! It will make you crave discussion partners! It's amazing how all the main characters are doing the best they can, and yet living in such a twisted society that they are doing awful things. The tone of this book is an unusual combination of creepy and heartwarming."

"Second in a series; good continuation of the story. I'd be totally lost if I hadn't read the first one, however.
Not an amazing book, but it's got a lot of pages to turn.
The literary equivalent of the eatery you frequent because "it's not that good, but you get a lot""

"I enjoyed Regenesis every bit as much as its predecessor Cyteen. I'm impressed by the way Cherryh presents the ethical issues around the azi (genetically and psychologically engineered humans)--which is to say, how she leaves them lurking in the background, because of course to the characters what they're doing is normal. As a reader, I get lulled into thinking that it's normal as well, so much so that when one antagonist character launches into a speech towards the middle of the book decrying how "one woman is imposing her mental design on the whole human species" my initial reaction was to roll my eyes along with the rest of the characters and wish he'd just get with the program. But of course, he has a point. . . ."
