About this title: It's all happening, though Zoey Redbird wishes it wasn't. She has her friends back, which is great. But a dark angel has taken over the House of Night, supported by High Priestess Neferet. Not so great. This leaves Zoey hiding out with the (supposedly friendly) red fledglings in Tulsa's prohibition-era tunnels. The not greatness continues. Zoey ...

"If you liked the first 4 books in the series, youwill like thisone, I makes you want more, but the books are short and the 5 probably could have been 2"
"This latest installment of the House of Night Series is the best yet. I couldn't put it down! The series draws you in and you fell a kinship with the lead character Zoey, laughing at the insults her friends throw at each other and you will be waiting with bated breath for the next installment of the series. My advice would be to start at book one in the series to get the full back story and for the pure enjoyment factor of reading the series through from the start."
"Okay, I wasn't disappointed with Hunted, but I wasn't extremely impressed with it either. I was really hoping that Heath was gone out of the love triangle (now a square!). When he came back I was just like WHAT THE?! HOW DID HE FIND HER?! Then Erik turning into what he did kind of scared me a little, and I still don't think she is going to end up with him in the next few books. The Casts need to stop trying so hard to get them to sound like teens and making every main guy character fall in love with Z. And then finding a way to make them all fit in so she doesn't seem like slut.
Now that I am done covering the bad stuff, let's move on to the good and great stuff. I don't believe they used the gay jokes too much, they used it like any teen would. The Twins are still as great as ever and the Imprint between Aphrodite and Stevie Rae was actually pretty funny. The relationship between Kalona and "A-ya" (Z) was interesting to read about. I also love how Z realizes that she is A-ya and Nyx has blessed her with the gift of free will. It shows that if you look deep inside you, you can find who you really are. I thought that it was possible to end the series right here and then. But it just would leave out the big question, "Did they ever really defeat Kalona?" And so many more. I can't wait for Tempted in October."
"I've read through all 5 of these books in a week and debated on if I "liked it" or "really liked it." I DID really enjoy the series, and I wish I could give it a 3.5 overall. Some of the dialogue really annoyed me, and it seems like the authors are just trying too hard to sound young & teenager-ish. Like, with all the "OMGs!" and "totally's!" Ugh- annoying.
And my major complaint (for all the books, but it significantly improved with book 5) is the backtracking and explaining what happened previously in the first 50 or so pages of each book. Come on! I'm not an idiot, if I pick up book 5 in a series you can damn well be sure I'll do a wiki search on what the first 4 books were about.
Zoey's massive number of boyfriends stays, well, massive. The vampyres stay the same, there's very little character development as usual, but a little bit of action FINALLY occurs after a few hundred pages. I think the Casts are trying to stretch out this series into FOREVER (because in 5 books, time has only lapsed 2 months). I would love to see some true character growth, time passing, and a lot less pop-culture lingo."
