"The UltraMind Solution is a highly informative book about osteopathic/holistic/alternative medicine. It includes excellent information and advice that, if applied, may result in dramatic improvements to one's overall health and well-being. This book was recommended to me by one of the top physicians in Lubbock Texas. My only complaint is related to the author's writing style. He mixes science with hype. The scientific findings that are reported are excellent, but there is also a lot of exaggerated/emotional language employed while extolling the virtues of osteopathic medicine and attacking traditional medicine. Here's a prime example (taken from the first page of Chapter 1): "Just as brain problems all stem from the same root causes, they all have the same solution - The UltraMind Solution." Ridiculous! I almost stopped reading this book because of the writing style, but I'm glad that I persevered because what I learned (in later chapters) was very valuable."
"Interesting content, and I admire Dr. Hyman's holistic/systems approach to medicine, but if this is truly THE solution to curing autism & ADHD & depression & countless other disorders, then why isn't his approach validated by the medical community and incorporated into national treatment guidelines? And why doesn't his clinic accept health insurance? I can't help but wonder what financial kickbacks Dr. Hyman is getting from this plan. Percentage of nutritional supplement sales perhaps? This book could have been 1/2 the size if the editors had organized the content and cut out all of the needless repetition (or is he getting paid by the word?) On a more positive note, this book did motivate me to transform my diet - to see if it has any effect on my brain power, mood, and memory. Time will tell..."
