"Funny and cheesy, it's the story "written" by the main character of the hit ABC show 'Castle.' Nathan Fillion (my secret boyfriend...so secret, he doesn't even know...) plays the main character Richard Castle who is writing a book based on the character NYPD Detective Kate Beckett. The novel Castle is writing is called Heat Wave and its main character is NYPD Detective Nikki Heat and journalist Jameson Rook. They're solving a murder of a big time NYC developer and falling into love? lust? Whatever it is, it's a fun tie-in with the television show. It's no Jane Austen. It's no Shakespeare, but it passes the time. Definitely for Castle fans! I can't wait until the next Nikke Heat installment. (And, for those watching the current season...it really is on page 105!)"
"As a fan of the show, I enjoyed this book. I think even people who have never seen the show would like this book, although it may feel a bit "thin" to them.
Because of the show, I was able to vividly pictures the characters as they went about the business of solving the murder of a rich man thrown from his apartment balcony. The humor was light, and the action was fairly fast paced. And for anyone who watched the episode where the book was released, the sex scene really DOES start on page 105 ;)"
"Pretty good! I think the writer did a good job of creating what Richard Castle's actual writing style would be, so if there are some spots of obviously bad writing, I'm pretty sure that's intentional. It was an enjoyable read, kind of like a really intense episode. It was easy to picture the characters from the show as their counterparts in the book, and okay, one word--"Roach" to combine the other two detectives' names? Haaaahahahaha I'm dying.
I like to think of this book, which is supposed to be the actual book Castle wrote, as basically an open love letter to Beckett. It's pretty amazing. I hope the show provides us with more of her reactions upon reading it and seeing what he wrote--I mean, he basically envisioned a sex scene between them, and also made his counterpart out to be this guy who's basically totally in love with her counterpart and very protective of her safety. He basically confesses to her through this book. I would love to know her reaction."
"Highly evocative of the show, and great fun. Despite being only 200 pages, it reads like a satisfying longer book - it's pretty dense. It could have stood to breathe a bit - there are a lot of details of various crimes in the last 50 pages or so, and information was coming thick and fast.
I'm not sure I buy the ending, which cost a star: either I misunderstood the logistics of one of the crimes, or the author handwaved some major details.
Entertaining and fun for fans of the show, and a great concept. If there's a next book, I hope it's not rushed."
