The final volume of the Wheel of Time, A Memory of Light, was partially written by Robert Jordan before his untimely passing in 2007. Brandon Sanderson, New York Times bestselling author of the Mistborn books, was chosen by Jordan's editor---his wife, Harriet McDougal---to complete the final book. The scope and size of the volume was such that it could not be contained in a single book, and so Tor ... read more

"I absolutely LOVED this book! It's been about 4 years since the previous book came out so I was anxious to read this one. I think Brandon Sanderson did an excellent job in writing this book for the late Robert Jordan. We got to see all the main characters, the chapters were shorter and it felt like a lot more happened in this book. It was at a faster pace, which I really liked. I especially loved the chapters with Rand. I felt that we got to see more in depth about his character and why he acts the way he acts. There were some characters that seemed a little off, but nothing that really bothered me. I would recommend this to anyone who has read the Wheel of Time series. It's a great start to the final three volumes in the series! "The last battle is coming.....""
"Wow, this book was awesome. I think more action happened in this 776 page novel than in the last 3 novels of equal length put together. Though Robert Jordan died a few years ago, I am happy to say that his replacement to finish this series was a good choice. Brandon Sanderson does a great job keeping with most of the characters... I say most because he utterly fails at maintaining the seriousness of Mat's character and turns Egwene into a more witchy and controlling person, but other than that, Sanderson did a decent job of picking off where our beloved Robert Jordan left off.
All in all, a great novel, hard to put down, and a worthy addition to my Wheel of Time shelf."
"I really enjoyed reading this book. When I saw I was getting to the end I tried to slow down because I knew I would have to wait for the next book when I finished. Now here I am waiting for the next book with anticipation. I was a little apprehensive to see if the new co-author would keep everything as it was in the other books, and he did wonderfully in keeping feeling as the rest of the series. There was, I found, less sniffing and smoothing of skirts, but I thought that was refreshing.
Mat felt a little different, but it wasn't really bad. His humor was not the same to me, but I still enjoyed reading about him. There are many character I wished I could have seen more of.
I don't want to say too much of what happened in the book, so I'll just say that I really enjoyed it! I didn't give it 5 stars because I felt they just glossed over what happened with Perrin's group towards the end of the book. I might be in the next book but, I think they could have found some room in this one."
"Well the book is out, and I have to say it's pretty bad. This reads like fan fiction. Everything I liked about Jordan's style: the detail, foreshadowing, characterization (of the male characters, the women were always terrible) etc.. is gone. The Mat and Perrin scenes are off. Rand feels like he's a 16 year old brooding teenager. Egwene makes no sense, its like someone took all her back story, and threw it in the trash. The story does move, and there is one good chapter with Rand and Morindin. All in all, I'll just read a wikipedia summary once all the three books are out, I'll find out what happened without having to go over thousands of pages of garbage.
They should have chosen either Erickson or Tad Williams to write this."
