"On a recent trip to the library, I stumbled across "The Light In The Attic" by Shel Silverstein. Once I opened it up and started reading those familiar poems, nostalgia flew right through me.
It was my absolute favorite book when I was a child. So I figured, "Why not? I might as well check this one out." I figured it would give my brain a tiny break in between some of my more difficult reads.
Well-over 10 years after reading it for the first time, it was just as wonderful as it was back then. It has such a wide array of topics, morals, and characters. Simple, honest poetry that any age can enjoy.
It was such a treat to revisit that time in my life. I felt like a little kid again. I also found that some of his poetry makes more sense when you get a little older. It's the type of book that will just keep giving, no matter how much time has passed by.
And if you enjoyed this one, you'll absolutely love his other books. These are a few of the ones I've loved for years: Falling Up, Where The Sidewalk Ends, The Missing Piece, and my personal favorite, The Giving Tree."
"This book is one of my all time favorites. It is book that has poems about very creative and imaginary characters such as Clooney the Clown, Pamela Purse, and the Bear in the Refrigerator. These poems are very funny and they tell all kind of stories. Some times they are sad, happy, or goofy. I used to love reading one poem everyday when I first started to learn how to read.I really enjoy looking over this book and remembering my childhood. The poems are very universal and easy to understand. People at any age can enjoy this book and leave with the same message. I think that Shel Silverstein is very creative and I credit him with my love of books, since this was the book that interested me the most in my early reading years. I think that this is a great book and I recommend it for any one, whether they older or younger. This book is a must read!"
"Banned books are banned for many reasons and I believe that yes, banned books that are banned should be banned because of these controversy issues. Books that are banned deals with occult, religion and sexual content.
Reason for occult is so children can not learn about paranormal or magic that tells about different religion. I believe occult shouldn't be taught in school because it relates to demons and ghosts. When children start to learn these things, parents start to worry and the first place it starts is in school. Nothing should be taught in school where issues is going to occur.
Books should not be taught in school that deals with different religion. This could cause a problem because parents expect their child to do one thing and not learn anything that could go against something that serious to where the child starts to question or believe something different.
Sexual content is nothing for a child to read. One their too young and should not be engaged to sexual relations. Parents teach their kids right from wrong for a reason. Children could take what they learn or read and start to demonstrate bad behavior.
In Conclusion, banned books should stay banned and not be aloud to be taught in school because of many controversy issues. Children who gets into these issues can get into trouble with parents and start to cause problems. At least get a parent consent before discussing anything controversy."
