"I went gaga over the ebooks offered on Goodreads, I'll admit, and the Philo Vance series of movies, starring William Powell are favorites! I have to say Philo in the books is a bit insufferable, and his grasp of psychology is laughable BUT he does use Art and Opera among other analogies for crime and criminal behavior. I will be reading the rest of them. Old New York is kinda fun too."
"This is the first novel I've read by this author, although I might have read some short stories by him. The main character, Philo Vance, is a bit like Peter Wimsey. The mystery wasn't all that great, but I enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to reading the next one by this author."
