"Desire, deception and thwarted plans merge into an entertaining and page turning plot in this picture book. Well-chosen repetition of key phrases and key events.
I read this book every year in November. It is my favorite Thanksgiving book. My copy is worn out. I must buy a new book for myself.
I have the version with people. The non-people version sounds less desirable."
"In my book, the illustrations are different: the family is represented by foxes. Other than that, I think they are the same.
Each member of the family flubs up the food the are supposed to prepare for the Thanksgiving dinner, and they are left with no dinner. They end up eating sandwiches and applesauce and remember that the best part of Thanksgiving is togetherness. Awwwwwwww!
I don't think my son really liked this book, perhaps he is still a little young for it.
Update: Well, last night my son asked me to read this book again, so I guess he did like it. I think it depends on his mood."
"We are studying the origins of Thanksgiving, and therefore also the Pilgrims, in school during the month of November. And WOW it has so opened my eyes to all that was suffered to give us a free country! I hope it can stay that way. This is one of the books we are reading for the month. This book is really funny. It is just a fun Thanksgiving read. It isn't about history but it is funny and great to remember that Thanksgiving is about more than just turkey. The kids love it and laugh all the way through."
