"I was kind of excited when I saw this on a shelf at the local library as I am currently dealing with second chances in life. Although the idea of the book is quite interesting and certainly attracts attention, after finishing it I can honestly say that the whole idea, the general plot of it was better than the book itself. My intention is in no way to offend anyone who found this book life-changing, it only means that my motivation probably lies in the lines of something else.
I can't say the messages in the book weren't to be followed, as cliché as they may sound, ways to a better life really does lie in those seven decisions probably. I just did not find the way they were written so fascinating. I am not going to deny that the part with Anne Frank got me to tears though, the thought of a young girl, whose future we all know about, being so full of hope towards life was the part I'll never forget about this book.
Overall, the book was ok, a good read and I'm sure one could find at least one way to relate to it. We all have our bad times and a book like this could help overcome the darkness, as long as one has the will to change."
"I enjoyed the "The Traveler's Gift". Author Andy Andrews tells a motivating tale by introducing his main character to seven historical people, who offer insights to success in life. The story he tells captures your imagination and invites you to continue reading. This book is classified as a "personal success/self-help" book. There is one real life character of historical significance in the book that was unfamiliar to me. I found that part of the book truly inspiring. I would encourage reading this book if just to get to that story. This is an easy, quick read, both enlightening and inspiring. There are parts of it that seem a bit cliché but I gave it four stars because it was so full with words of wisdom and so many remarkable quotes."
