"Great stories and easy to follow instructions. This book has made me feel more confident in my knitting and is full of resources and creative ideas for starting up as a new knitter. I highly recommend this book. Also I was pleased to find that Debbie is also the woman who started BUST, my favorite magazine!"
"For someone new to knitting (me) this book is a God send. The tutorials are easy to understand and follow, and she makes knitting sound fun and fresh, yet with a history to respect. The projects are worthy of copying (I love the bags), and this is just an all around great reference book for your library. The author, the founder and editor of Bust Magazine, made a huge impact on bringing knitting back to the trendy set. She deserves a lot of respect for that."
I was able to follow the information in this book and actually learn how to progress in my knitting skills without a person sitting in the room to teach me.
All other attempts I ever made to understand a book failed. Until this point I needed someone to be there with me showing me with their actions, and guiding my hands to catch on.
For that reason I recommend this book. It is full of information about what you are supposed to do, and the common mistakes, and what the mistakes look like so you can figure out what you did.
I am practicing what I learned from the book, and I will check it out again (if I don't just buy it somewhere), so I can learn some of the more advanced things when I feel I have gotten good at the things I learned this time around."
"This was my bible when I was first learning how to knit. My mom taught me years and years ago, but when I wanted to learn again, I picked this up.
It's good for basic instruction and it has some fun, cute patterns... but I had to rely on a few knitting videos on youtube as well as some other instructional websites to really get things. It would be a great supplement if you are learning and can reference things in this book as well as have someone show you basics. If you don't know anyone who knits, most local yarn stores have classes. If they don't, they're usually happy to help out newbies."
