"It was so cute. I loved her comparison of Hades to Batman. It put a smile on my face. (If only Val Kilmer could return to his days as Batman!) I like how she's taking common myths and making them into something new. The only problem I currently have with this series is that her main female character has a tendency to spend a lot of time talking to herself in the first 2-4 chapters. This one wasn't as bad as the previous one where the girl talked to her TV and her phone, but it makes it hard to get invested at first. Once the transformation takes place I devour the books, but until then I have to push myself and trust that it will pick up. Luckily, I have faith in P.C. Cast and she has yet to let me down."
"Loving the first book in this series, I could not wait to read this one. And truly enjoyed it! In this story, Cast recreates the story of Hades (Lord of the Underworld) and Persephone (Goddess of Spring) with a little twist- a modern day middle aged woman who switches "places" with the young goddess. As with the first book, I loved the story, its characters, and ofcourse the romance and fantasy! I must add that I was really pleased that Cast kept to her strong heroine(s); and retained some of the story of Hades and Persephone. Also, I liked the vunerability of Hades, and the ending. Some of the aspects that I am thoroughly enjoying with these books is how the stories, although familiar, are not predictable; and that readers do not necessarily have to be familiar with the tales/legends to appreciate the story. I also like how each book seems to have its own story; although it is part of a series. As you might have guessed, I would recommend this book to other readers and encourage them not to be skeptical about the romance catagorization."
"I loved this retelling of the story of Persephone. There were some elements that were familiar from her other books (a woman from our world is called to a world where the myths are true to some extent and becomes divine), but the story was so fresh and different than her Divine By Mistake series that I really enjoyed it. I love seeing characters I already know and love from a different perspective, as long as it's true to the original character, so this was a really fun book. Anyone who loves mythology should give this a try. ...Although I did crave good wine and Italian food the whole time I was reading, so maybe plan a nice pasta dinner before you start reading ;)"
"3 1/2 stars, really. Fantasy romance does not get fluffier or frothier than this, but I honestly enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for the Greek Underworld--which, for the most part, Cast paints as a luxury spa. And sometimes reading about a magical luxury spa is just the kind of escape you need, if that makes any sense."
