"The story of humanity is not written in towers, but in tears. Some of the most touching commentary on the trade centres I've ever read. Doesn't come across as at all cheesy. Then leads to a ripping story about identity and rebuilding relationships. This is a beautiful superhero drama."
"Very moving book for such a small collection of issues. The first one caught me off guard but really said a lot of things about the days before and after 9/11 that are still true and poignant today. Straczynski does a great job of weaving Peter's humor and sincerity, which allows for a greater understanding and enjoyment of the character. Most writers can only get one aspect of Spidey right and he seems keen on hitting the nail right on the head, forcing this true believer to not only enjoy the issues while reading but to continue thinking about the stories and the effects on the characters well after putting them down."
"Date read is approximate. Read in single issue form. This is the second trade of the good part of JMS's Spider-Man run. Peter deals with his great secret as America deals with her greatest tragedy. JMS's handling of both subjects is top notch. There is also the silent issue, where JMS takes advantage of Romita Jr.'s fine pencils to show a day in the life of the Parkers. Read the first trade of the run in order to catch up, but this is some of the best Spider-Man writing ever."
