"This book is SO FUNNY! It's from the POV of a rather dim-witted American flapper travelling abroad and seeing how much she can get men to buy for her. Her cultural ignorance makes you feel great about yourself (lol) and you really have to cringe at some of the things she says and does. I read this for a jazz age lit class, and many of the students in the class found Lorelei extremely annoying, but I personally loved her - as a character. As a person, I might want to slap her. You decide. :)"
"I really enjoyed reading both novellas, but especially Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. It's not like the movie. Some of the dialogue and sentences are priceless. Also, I noticed some very interesting similarities to Jane Austen's Emma. I would say it's something of the modern version."
"Randomly, I came across Anita Loos' cousin in a photograph in one of the newspapers I'm looking at for my dissertation (I didn't know it was her cousin, but once I started working backward with the name ...) and then I started reading about Anita Loos (not, ahem, related to my dissertation, but totally interesting) - so then I HAD to buy this and read it. I've seen the film, but I didn't know about the book and what a bestseller it was when it was first released."
