About this title: Economist Steven Levitt is a popularizer in the best sense of that term, and his reality-based view of economics encompasses both how it touches our daily lives (though we may not always see it) and how it can help bring clarity to that messy world we live in. In FREAKONOMICS, written with journalist Stephen J. Dubner, Levitt casts his professorial eye on a range of topics and behaviors, phrase questions in a way that will open up the topic. The chapter "What Do Schoolteachers and Sumo Wrestlers have In Common?" explores the issue of cheating as an incentive. He examines the economics of ...

"The title is a bit more exotic than the content of this book, but I did like very much how he tied together events in history that most people don't correlate. It shows the study and insight that went into the writing of it.
The book is very nice easy reading and will cause you to think more deeply into why things really happen. I'd say 8 out of 10."
"Since I love taking a different view on generally accepted things, this book was a treat! No easy conclusions, but a way to look at events with an open mind and verifiable data. And combining the right data, not to satisfy politicians or the financiers, but showing that causes have effects and not always the way we think or are told they do. To try to explain, means writing the book, and you should read it. Find that seemingly unrelated things sometimes do relate and that accepted knowledge is no knowledge at all! Think for yourself and keep away from specialists who only look at what suits them! Great read, finished it too fast and it was too short."
"This book is a must read. Extremely entertaining. The comparison and contrast between subject is unbelievable. The title is misleading, but the material is not your everyday topic. This book will change your mind and how you view some subject matter. You will not want to put this book down."
