This book was my first contact with the world of programming languages. I was always worried that I wouldn't understand the elements involved and generally had the classic beginner issues. To my relief all I had to do was install the software that came with the book and finally start reading it. I went from "what is a java program?" to performing all 4 basic numerical calculations in the first 2 days of reading the book.
