"If you want advice while learning to paint in watercolor, this is the best book I've seen so far. His earlier book appears to be more generalized. (I haven't seen it yet) However, this book offers so much good advice above and beyond landscapes that it could be used by anyone who wants to learn the medium whether or not they have an interest in landscapes per se."
"This is a pretty helpful little book on how to paint with watercolors. I enjoyed it, and it makes for a good reference guide. What I think could improve such a book would be to have laminated, water-resistant pages in a coil notebook, so it would be easy to flip and hold into place whilst painting. It would be much more helpful and would also decrease the amount paint splatters on the pages. This is an easy to read guide, which describes approachable and non-intimidating techniques to watercolor paints. However, there were too many landscapes in the book for my liking, and would have appreciated a broader array of designs. Otherwise, a great book for the watercolorist virgins."
"I had the first book, Watercolorist's Essential Notebook and that book was very good and explained watercolor how to, tips, tricks, and how to paint. As with the first book, this book continues with more information, directed to landscape painting. I especially like the watercolor paint reviews that are in both books. Gordon MacKenzie explains how to paint in a manner that is understood by anyone reading his books. I hope there are more books forthcoming. I can only hope!"
