"Philip Yancey has written a book on prayer that is not intimidating or guilt-producing. He explores every aspect of prayer as one who is learning and experiencing prayer in his own life. His ideas are thought-provoking and cause you to explore your own ideas and experiences from a new direction. It is not a quick read. You need time to think about each chapter. I took 3 months to read it but I really enjoyed the study and recommended it to my husband's Promise Keepers group and they are using it for their breakfast meetings."
"This book gives no easy answers but instead argues from all sides for and against prayer, giving powerful personal and global examples. If you aren't religious it'll explain why others might pray--and also reassure you that many wise people who do pray have lots of unanswered questions about the whole deal!!!"
"This book talks & explores the depths of prayers through hundreds of people's experiences with God. It let me appreciate how prayer indeed can deepen my faith and relationship with God and importance of prayer."
"Yancey provides lots of examples of people who have the same inner struggles I have with prayer. Unanswered prayers are often God saying No to us for our own good. We don't see it till many years later.
As Yancey points out prayer is our way to contact with God yet many Christians struggle with it. First doing it, then wondering whether we are doing correctly, then feeling unworthy, then repeating etc etc. This is an area of our lives that is so wide open for interpreation. Yancey does a good job at least raising the issues."
