About this title: It's easy to second guess programming decisions when older albums are reissued, and one wishes that the Henschel Quartet had recorded not just two of Alberto Ginastera's string quartets in 1999, but all three of them; the small cycle can fit comfortably on a single disc, as demonstrated by Cuarteto LatinoAmericano on its 1997 Elan release, and by the Lyric Quartet on ASV in 1996. Putting that complaint aside, this 2006 reissue of the Henschel's Arte Nova recording is still important to keep in print, if for no other reasons than that Ginastera's thin CD catalog needs more of such energetic ...
