I've been baking bread for years at home but wanted to branch into other baking modes. Each chapter discusses the principles, then goes on to give example recipes. I have tried quite a few with success and a happy wife

Starting Right
This is a very good book not only for intermediately skilled bakers but also for people who want to start baking and do it properly, i.e., learn the basics and go on from there.
The info provided is comprehensive, making it a great read as well for reviewing recipes and techniques. It's a perfect book for the Cook/Baker's collection. Something that could be passed on to the rest of the family when the children start showing interest in learning how to make their own breads, cookies, pies or cakes (not to mention the pastries).
This is a very good buy and investment for future kitchen adventures.
