In addition, a new detective, Jennifer Angell (Emmanuelle Vaugier), joins the staff; Flack (Eddie Cahill) returns to work after recovering from injuries sustained in an explosion that concluded Season 2; and an office romance blossoms between Danny (Carmine Giovinazzo) and Lindsay (Anna Belknap). But not everything goes well for Lindsay. She returns to Montana to testify in a murder trial. When she was 14 she witnessed three of her friends being gunned down inside a café. As for Stella (Melina Kanakaredes), she accidentally cuts her hand with bloodstained glass that may be infected with HIV, and she becomes a murder suspect in a cold case in Philadelphia. And she's not the only CSI suspected of murder. Hawkes (Hill Harper) is a key person of interest when a Greenwich Village bartender is gunned down. Some of the more intriguing cases include: Tennis legend John McEnroe is investigated for murder; a professional shoplifter (Nelly Furtado) who steals for clients is suspected of killing a Fifth Avenue security guard; an alleged serial killer (Joey Lawrence) is released from prison after the cop he supposedly confessed to is arrested, and Mac immediately suspects the former convict is killing again; a woman who works for an illusionist (Criss Angel) is found sawed in half inside a magician's wooden box; a young punk rocker is beaten to death shortly after performing with the Suicide Girls; and three women dressed as Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's rob a jewelry store, and one of the managers is killed during the heist when a shotgun discharges.
