Unbelievably realistic and ...
This author does something unusual with this book. She takes traditional views of Demons and Vampires and even more things that go bump in the night - and she makes them come alive with compassion and love and deep values and a rigid moral code that extols integrity and family above all else. It takes the usual Bram Stoker and Frankenstein images and turns them into someone you wish lived next door. Jacob is an Enforcer in the Hierarchy she creates in this world and shows us a protective character that puts his own sense of honor first. A great book and the series only gets better. The author has taken the time to create an entire complex world that lives within ours. Yeah!
