Which came first? King's "It" novel clown (1986)? The Chiodo's Outer Space Klowns(1988)? Or, Tim Cutrry's "It" based Pennywise (1990)? Whichever it was for you where before some of us nurtured a psychological dread of clowns and the rest of us didn't, we all now know how evil a demon a clown can be presented as. There goes the childhood (Pun on there goes the neighborhood, sorry) . I personally have never been more delighted to see this twist on Klowns. I do some bas relief clown faces and try to keep them wholesome. The blood dripping fangs on these characters has allowed me to see a personality presence in my clown characters I hope will make them be more human in the future as I form them.
Aa a spoof of both Horror and SciFi genres. The Chiodo's Three have given us a unique little work of art. They meticulously have developed the story to the final edited version. The variations of genre standard props is well concieved: Cotton candy guns; Deadly popcorn); the Big top as a UFO; The "I'm a veteran cop so don't give me lip" character; and, what horror movie would be watchable if there wasn't a scene from Makeout Mountain? The special effects are seamless and all other technical aspects of film making are well executed. The Actors, mostly new to lead roles are a little stunted in their presentation but that may have been intended to give a more 'campy' feeling to the cast aspect. Remember, this is about the Klowns, yes, the Klowns. I wonder if they're recruiting?
The DVD is chock full of extras and I'm still re reviewing them they're so good! I think if this movie is run backwards we can hear from one of the dark parked cars, John telling Yoko to kiss him up on Makeout Mountain.
