It appears that 2 pages each in bibliography and Japanese section have been left blank in error, otherwise in excellent condition. Catalogue for an exhibition organised jointly with the British Museum in the new Japanese Galleries 6th July to 4th November 1990. Early Japanese porcelains made for Europeans including the early Arita enamellers, the rise of what we call Kakiemon, the beginnings of Imari. Full Japanese ceramics export came about as a result of the interruption of Chinese exports with the end of the Ming Dynasty in 1659. Also looks at the influence of Japanese porcelain on European manufacturers including Meissen, Chantilly, Chelsea, Bow and Worcester.
