?All saloons have bars in them, but not all bars are saloons.?-Paul Lanier.
The Guardsman of Murray Hill is mostly a fictional account of the happenings in a saloon.
In this sentimental collection of short stories the author takes us into The Guardsman, a saloon in New York. He introduces us to the bartenders along with the other patrons. He also takes us along with him to the weddings of the many patrons of The Guardsman. We witness the divorces and funerals throughout the years. Not to mention the business deals made in The Guardsman!
This 154 page collection of stories in The Guardsman of Murray Hill is very easy reading. They are well written angering and frustrating us. These stories will raise your spirits and make you laugh! Each chapter is a different story or memory making this book very easy to put down at will.
I recommend The Guardsman of Murray Hill for older people who have spent time in a saloon or pub since they have many of the same memories.
