Because this movie was made in 1945, in Malta, it is very accurate. The standard 4:3 black & white scenes filmed by military cameramen fit seamlessly with the dramatic sequences, which are, in some ways, reenactments of the experiences recorded by the Hurricane pilot, Tom Neil, in his memoir, Scramble. It is very moving to see actual footage of the tanker Ohio limping in from the convoy Pedestal (see Pedestal the Malta Convoy of 1942, Smith).
The audio & video of the DVD by VCI Entertainment are good, even on my ten foot screen.
