Nicol Williamson Tears It Up!
This gritty slice-of-life movie is highlighted by a bravura, scenery-chewing performance by Nicol Williamson. His prodigious energy is a fascinating combination of malevolence and pathos, as he brings what could have been a one-dimensional character to life.
The film has some pretty violent moments, and it certainly exhibits much of its decade's misogyny, but the script still hangs together well and the pace of the storytelling will keep you riveted.
Fans of the Angry Young Man genre from Britain will enjoy this, and you can even see some influences on early Martin Scorcese movies, but it's Williamson who will stay seared in your mind.
