If you're a fan of ribbon embroidery (which I was not...), then you will simply love this advanced "manual" of exquisite embroidery! I ordered this book because the seller I was buying from had this book. But then, on the way to the embroidery store, a strange thing happened... I fell in love with the three-dimensional delights of ribbon embroidery! This definitely is NOT a book for a beginner. In fact, Robbyn warns you: "So a word of caution, once you start to dabble in the world of ribbon embroidery, it won't be long before you, too, are hooked by its charm." So I ordered two smaller ribbon embroidery kits. And while I haven't had a chance to begin stitching yet, I'm sure that once I do, I too will join the ranks of the "hooked." This is a book for the admirer ... I count 23 projects, including a piano bench, which one does NOT sit upon! Many cushions (pillows), a framed photo on fabric (it could be a family photograph or heirloom...), a framed black lace Victorian collar (again, it could one from your family's history, exquisitely framed ...), an exquisite cover for a hatbox (or a cushion), several three-dimensional floral pictures, one making use of crystals (as the vase -- Wow!), foot stool cover (NOT for feet!), a unique Chatelaine with a gathering of antique stitching supplies, a beautifully decorated straw bag, a wonderful "fairy halo" to go with a beautiful fairy princess costume (for that young girl in your family... very pink), another framed piece making use of a three-dimensional cherub, an embroidered piece where flowers and leaves are embroidered on a cushion, techniques and stitch glossary. Each project includes instructions right down to what percentage to use when photocopying any patterns. Now, back to my tiny new kits...
