As those who have read the first sets of the Thomas Covenant series might guess, the Land is in trouble once again.
Linden Avery M.D., 10 earth-years after witnessing Covenant's death in his (and her) own world, again encounters his wife and son. Through a force she immediately recognizes, she is violently called back to the Land where she must prove herself to many who, over 3000 Land-years prior, would have been certain allies. As well, an incongruous source of power in that Land, Anele, is a mysterious force which may or may not be beneficial to her. Stephen R. Donaldson, the author, is a master of words and is not afraid to stretch his reader's vocabulary! Even then, the book moves quickly. Being book 1, Donaldson, of course, leaves us, his readers, ready for more ? and it's already here, in book 2.
