Seller's Description:
Like New in Fine jacket. Size: 11x0x11; Signature of John Fielder laid in. Winter is Colorado's tranquil and seductive season, and outdoor photographer John Fielder has sought out the scenes that most evoke the subtle beauty of a Colorado winter. Capturing the sculptural shapes of snow blanketing trees and hillsides, and the stories told by tracks of recent visitors in the snow, Fielder shares the visual experience of this dazzling season. Outdoor writer M. John Fayhee provides the narrative to these alluring scenes, describing winter experiences of the backcountry traveler in the snow-covered Colorado mountains. John Fielder (1950-2023) was an American landscape photographer, nature writer, publisher of over 40 books, and conservationist. He is nationally known for his landscape photography, scenic calendars (which have been published for over 30 years) and for his many coffee table books and travel guides-including Colorado's best-selling Colorado 1870-2000, in which he matches the same scenes of classic photographs taken in the 19th century by photographer William Henry Jackson. Fielder won the Colorado Book Award three times, in 1996, 1997, and 2000. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Sierra Club's Ansel Adams Award for Conservation Photography (1993) and the Aldo Leopold Foundation's first ever Achievement Award (2011). In 2017 he was awarded an honorary degree in Sustainability Studies by Colorado Mountain College. John Fielder's photography has influenced people and legislation, and he has worked tirelessly to promote the protection of Colorado's open space and wildlands.
