The Cadfael Chronicles are by far the best mysteries I've had the pleasure of reading. Ellis provides a tightly constructed tale with an economy of words and unexpected twists on the way to the solution. They are particularly intriguing to Medieval history buffs. Ellis is consistent. All of the Chronicles are equally well written.
