Brahms three violin sonatas also follow some of the advances and stylistic trends that Beethoven laid out, most notably in ensuring an equal voice for both the violin and piano. Brahms brought his own harmonic richness and rhythmic intrigue, resulting in three cornerstones of the violin sonata repertoire.
