What happens when a nineteen-year-old boy leaves home and heads into the jungles to evangelize a murderous tribe of South American Indians? For Bruce Olson, it meant capture, disease, terror, loneliness, and torture. But what he discovered has revolutionized the world of missions. Having lived with the Motilone Indians since 1961, Olson has won the friendship of four presidents of Colombia and made appearances before the United Nations because of his efforts. Bruchko includes the story of Olson's 1988 kidnapping by communist guerrillas and the nine months of captivity that followed. It is truly an inspiring account.

This is one of the best books, of any genre, I have ever read. Definitely the best missions book ever. A must read for all potential missionaries. I met Bruce Olson in person and he is a great man! This book is riveting. You won't be able to put it down! It will take you to the jungles of South America and you will find yourself on the edge of your seat praying for the Motilone people to see the light. I loved it so much, if they ever decided to make a movie on it, I would give whatever money I could to help production!!!!! One warning: If you're not so good with foreign languages, don't try to pronounce all the native names. And if you like this one, try anything by Don Richardson. He's written several good mission stories(nonfiction, of course).
