Civil Rights: Rhetoric or Reality is a book that cuts through all of the propaganda that has been disseminated by those who make their living off of racial politics. Sowell, as in other 16 of his books that I have read leaves no stoned unturned in compiling his research. While his opinions may really have fellow blacks Jesse Jackson, Al sharpton, et al. foaming at the mouth, it is hard to not agree with Sowell's logic. He writes from a totally unbiased perspective and lets the chips fall where they may. The depth of his research has caused him to form opinions that are not political correct. His display of fairness and objectivity is exemplary. In my opinion Thomas Sowell is one of the the top intellectuals to come out of the last half of the twentieth century.
