Conversation with Wilder is a must read for the occasional movie goer to the hard-core movie fan. This book is not just for Billy Wilder fans, but for anyone who loves movies. Cameron Crowe does a masterful job in drawing out the ellusive Billy Wilder's wry wit and his hard comedic edges. This book takes the reader on a wondeful journey of Wilder's great films, including such masterpieces as The Apartment, Sunset Boulevard, Some Like It Hot, and the Film Noir classic Double Indemnity. Mr. Wilder explains in grand detail his recollections of Hollywood and movie-making during his tenure as one of the greatest writer/directors of all time. He delves into his mechanics as a writer/director, leaving no stone unturned as he talks about his films, the actors (good and bad), his partnership with writers Charles Bracket and I. A. L. Diamond, as well actors he wanted to work with and movies he wished he would have done. This fantastic filmography takes us from his humble beginnings in Austria to his simple Beverly Hills office at the age of 92. Included are hudreds of great photos, still shots and movie poster's. This is a wonderful collection and a must have for any Wilder fan; you will treasure it.
