"Countdown to Winning Bridge" has a fly in the ointment. In Chapter 6, the authors deviate from their credible effort of describing card counting into a disastrous attempt at bridge probability theory. They espouse something they call "The Monty Hall Trap" an idea based on an error in reasoning (two events that are clearly independent are connected in their explanation), which in turn is used to justify an unhelpful idea they call "Biased Information". I recommend skipping Chapter 6 and instead referring to "Bridge Odds for Practical Players" by Kelsey & Glauert for an excellent treatment of bridge probability theory.
