Beautifully written and illustrated, "Don't Step on the Spider" is an endearing, soothing book that filled me with a sense of being in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Young Tim's grandparents dote on him but when he goes outside to play and proposes to step on a spider he spied, his grandfather seizes the important teaching moment. Tim and his grandpa embark on a delightful adventure in which the boy discovers, through some of nature's smallest representatives, that we must respect all life as a critical part of our planet's magical balance.
