"Published on the occasion of the exhibition Fugues in Color, presented at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, this catalogue is testament to the importance of five painters from different backgrounds and generations within contemporary abstraction. Sam Gilliam (United States, 1933), Katharina Grosse (Germancy, 1961), Steven Parrino (United States, 1958-2005), Megan Rooney (South Africa, 1985), and Niele Toroni (Switzerland, 1937) have transformed the color-surface relation by breaking free of traditional frameworks. Their untrammeled, expansive painting spreads in space and enters into a close dialogue with its architectural environment."--Publisher/WorldCat.
