Church growth is one of the "hot button" issues of our time. Thom Rainer has done extensive research in the field of chruch growth and provided much needed information for churches that are trying to reach the unchurched. High Expectations is on church growth with a twist...work on keeping the current membership. Thom shows that, while some churches are gaining converts, they are losing members out the back door. His solution is simple and within the framework of biblical principles regarding the local church. Use the Bible School program to gain interest and bring people into the church. As these people are assimilated into the local church, involve them in the work of the church as soon as possible. Through surveys and interviews with growing churches, Rainer shows that any church can experience positive growth by applying these, and other principles, to its program of work. An excellent book and well worth the read!
