Jane Kirkpatrick is an awesome author. This was one of the 3 books on the series about Marie Dorion, a woman of strength, courage, purpose and faith, and most of all a survior. I felt very close to the main character, Marie. This book and the other two has given me an hunger for more books about the people who came to this beautiful state of Oregon and made it what it was and still can be. I am now beginning another book by Jane Kirkpatrick that is already sucking me into its pages. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this series. Make a great literture book for young people in high school.
