Complete A to Z info in useful form House Building
This is my second copy, someone liked my earlier copy so much I haven't seen it since.
I keep this as a reference and having built 4 houses from the tiny two story on a 10' by 12' footprint to a five thousand square foot tudor this book has proved useful. Doing renovations, the step by step calc page really makes opportunity cost decisions come to life so you can easily see the value of storm windows, ceiling insulation, wall insulation and deal with infiltration or air issues.
Another area is the design method used by professionals that doesn't require any software, that is this where is goes, how it fits layout. This is not just for building something new but when buying a house a helpful approach.
Yes, there are a great many books in this area offering rich detail; this book gets to the heart of the matter and you can look beyond the designs therein to see farther into your options, renovations or something new.
I recommend this book, practical and reference.
