Seller's Description:
Very Good. First edition. Large octavo. 546pp. Illustrated plates. Spine-lettering dull, corners rubbed, about very good lacking dust jacket. Inscribed by the author to critic and author Malcolm Cowley and his wife: "To Malcolm and Muriel as ever Matthew Josephson." Apparently at some time this must have been Josephson's own copy-laid in are some detritus, presumably forgotten by Josephson: an appointment card for a dental visit, as well as a letter to Josephson from John Bookjans (in 1955) about reading the galleys of Josephson's new book, and trying to interest local labor organizers in the book.
