Fritz Kreisler's Recitativo and Scherzo-Caprice, Op. 6, is dedicated to friend and fellow composer Eugčne Ysa˙e (who is also represented here, with his Spanish-influenced Sonata in E major, Op. 27 No. 6). The Recitativo is melodic and elaborate, with abundant use of double stops, and the Scherzo-Caprice is bright and virtuosic. The life of loss and suffering endured by Mieczyslaw Weinberg is, as ever, evident in his Sonata No. 2, Op. 95. The emotional unease and strife of the work is well-realized.
