While she doesn't quite match Georgette Heyer's brilliant dialogues, her plotting and sense of history, her perspective on the horrors of war are superlative. Lady Elizabeth's Comet is not my favorite book of her three-book series, The Bar Sinister, Elizabeth's Comet, Love and Folly, but her development of the characters and her plotting are flawless. I only wish that Simonson had chosen to write more regencies, but I recognize her great craftsmanship in her endeavors and recognize that their execution involved an enormous amount of research and work.
