This first book about the McCain family was interesting, but a little slow-moving at first. Ruth is a likeable character as she has been dismissed by a number of finishing schools and doesn't seem to fit into a societal mold. The story is exciting and the love story between Ruth and Josh grows naturally. The setting in the late 19th century in Texas during the time of the pony express is interesting.

Great!
I really liked this book. She really drove home the way people were prejudice and really looked down on harlots and how God can change peoples opinons. There was a lot of mishaps and quirky habits that made the main character really endering.

excellent book
The book was excellent, but had a slow beginning. But once you got past all of the introductions to characters, it was hard to put down. I love the fact that the main character wasn't perfect, hence the title of the book.
