I've read the three previous books and this one was not as powerful as the others. However, I liked the new characters who are struggling with many issues which are not relegated only to the devotion to the cause like Brano Stev who definitely should know better after the third installment. The younger recruits have many personal issues to address - commitment in marriage, homosexuality, retribution. This book required more attention as the action moves across years, days, and hours; one needed to be adept to keep all the story lines in place. Steinhauer has been to the places he writes about - I can recall them as I've been to many of them. So, he's able to bring the characters and the plot alive. If you're like me and like this genre, then I recommend you read it and have fun.
